WHO ARE WE?
 

We are Anthony and Gloria Edge. We are hairdressers who love to inspire and create images. We bonded over the love of Quadrophenia (a movie loosely based on The Who's 1973 rock opera of the same name), then discovered the perfect partner in one another as we nerd out over various subcultures, music genre, street art and the love of history, in particular-hair, fashion and trends. 

EDGE made its debut in the spring of 2015 as kind of a laugh at a pub in San Diego. Anthony has been a hairdresser since the age of 15 in his hometown in Northern England. He has put in the time and went thru the ranks at Toni & Guy London since the 90’s at their hay day and became one of their International Artistic Director. Traveled the world, 5-6 days a week for over 15 years, working with an amazing team, delivering education- basically, he lived, ate, breathed HAIR for 35 years! If Anthony didn’t end up doing hair, he would make a great showman. Or, a cult leader. He has a way of moving people to a place where only the best dreams exist, and you’s happily remain.

As for Gloria? Well, in this beauty and the brain relationship, as the brain, I find it hard to write about myself (plus I am shy). Let’s just say I am the creature behind the curtain in the Wizard of OZ. I am a gypsy and have done a lot of heavy lifting (literally) before I’d even consider hairdressing. I thrive in being calm in the middle of chaos, live to motivate my team; but I take no prisoners and would make a great poker player. They also call me Google, because my actual head is quite big and can retain a good amount of info.

So, here we are, in 2019, we launched EDGE ACADEMY in Little Italy San Diego. This is where we conduct our courses, shoot our collections and teach our little daughter, Tallulah Grace, what it means to strive for the things that matter and to never compromise.

We are all about making the tough look easy. We love going straight to the point. We love breaking down the complexities of haircuts than presenting them to you again with greater clarity and simplicity.

We are here to take you from the Why to the what. With history, a backstory and head sheets to go along.

Whether you are looking for fresh inspiration, a quality presentation or just a no BS hands on cutting class which delivers cuts you can take straight to your clients, you have come to the right place.

Our courses are tailored to hairdressers of different levels. From classic fundamentals to creative personalizations, the backstory of our collections give relevance to history and culture, we live to provide an exciting, entertaining and empowering experience that is more than just another cutting class.

Each of our course is perfected by the years of experience and techniques, improved and continues to evolve along with us.

We are not here just to sell you a course, we are here to share with you what make us who we are. We are here because we have been inspired by you and we want to share this on going narrative with you.

WHY WE DO IT

We love creative people. We love happy inspired people. We LOVE hairdressers.

We believe the only way to continue is to grow and the only way to grow is to never stop learning and being curious.

We are one of the very few independent educators in the hairdressing world to come up with a collection every year. We believe it is hugely important to our growth. It is a challenge for a small team like us but a challenge we enjoy nonetheless as it sets us apart.

We enjoy creating new looks, from concept to execution. It’s always a painstaking and stressful process, that’s truth. It’s a work of love that represents us.

Each collection showcase around 10 different looks. Each collection is different yet cohesive to the one before and after. We are not trying to sell you anything. There is nothing you need to earn to have a seat in our classroom.

Every thing we do is full on, you will learn much but we keep it simple; that’s the product of experience, quality and consistency and we take great pride in that.

Some days are long but still we look at one another at the end of the day and say, "Can you believe we still get to do this?!"
